Day 2
Quebrada de Humahuaca
Jujuy
After breakfast at the hotel, we embark on a journey through the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a site recognized as a World Heritage Site. This area is renowned for its stunning landscapes and the vibrant colors of the hills, complemented by the rich cultures residing here.
The tour starts with a visit to the quaint town of Purmamarca, where we'll admire the Hill of Seven Colors, the Church, and the Craft Market in the square.
We'll continue past the Posta de Hornillos and head towards Tilcara to explore the Pucará and the Archaeological Museum.
The journey proceeds to Huacalera, crossing the Tropic of Capricorn, offering a view of the hill known as Pollera de la Colla. We will visit the Church of Uquía, home to the famous Arquebusier Angels paintings. Our adventure continues to Humahuaca, featuring its significant Cathedral and the Monument to Independence (El Indio) by sculptor Soto Avendaño.
Post-lunch, we'll observe the Pintor's Palette from the road, which beautifully frames the town of Maimara, and return to Salta via the lush, subtropical vegetation of the cornice route.
We'll pass through the Abra de Santa Laura, seeing the La Ciénaga dam, Las Maderas, and Campo Alegre, before heading back to Salta through Vaqueros.
Day 3
Tour of the Cafayate Wine Region
Salta
The day begins with a drive through the Lerma Valley, passing tobacco fields and towns with colonial architecture such as Alemania, the former terminus of the Belgrano railway.
We then enter the Quebrada del Río Las Conchas, where you'll marvel at the unique formations carved by wind and water: the dunes, the toad, the bishop, the Devil's Throat, the castles, the amphitheater, and more.
Continuing along National Route 68, we reach Cafayate, the youngest city in the Calchaquíes Valleys, globally known for its wine varieties, especially the Torrontés. You can sample these wines during visits to both artisanal and industrial wineries.
We return to Salta via the same route, but with the changing sunlight, the ravine's landscape will appear entirely transformed.
