To assist in planning your journey, we provide two excursion options: one that encompasses both a bus and train ride, and another that includes only the train journey.
*BUS + TRAIN TO THE CLOUDS OPTION: Our assembly point is at Antofagasta Square at 6:00 am. Here, the trip check-in occurs; please ensure you have your documentation and pre-purchased ticket ready.
The stops along the tour include:
07:35 am: Campo Quijano, located 30km from the capital. Here you will witness Salta's most iconic engineering feat: the C-14 railway branch.
08:05 am: Viaducto del Toro, situated on the ravine sharing its name.
09:25 am: El Alfarcito, at an altitude of 2,800 meters, where the tradition of local craftsmanship thrives. Enjoy a country breakfast and explore the craft fair. Additionally, visit the Fundación del Padre Chifri, which supports resource acquisition and offers education and training to local residents.
This marks our final stop before reaching San Antonio de los Cobres.
11:40 am: Gather at the train station to board the iconic Train to the Clouds. The train departs at 12:00 noon.
1:00 pm: Polvorilla Viaduct, the most renowned image of this journey. As the highest structure of the C-14 railway branch, it stands over 4200 meters above sea level.
1:30 pm: Begin the return to San Antonio de los Cobres, arriving at the station around 2:45 pm where you will have two hours to explore and photograph the area.
4:30 pm: The return journey commences. An hour into the trip, the final stop will be at Santa Rosa de Tastil, home to one of the country's largest archaeological sites, once accommodating approximately 3,000 people.
